Linux Driver Project

Friday, September 28th, 2007

One of the pains of running *nix is finding drivers for your hardware. Getting the correct drivers can be quite elusive and can require compiling your own libraries, for wireless cards using the ndiswrapper or just plain sitting there swearing at the vendor.

The Linux Driver Project aims at developing and supporting Linux drivers. And with a recent announcement from the creator, his company Novel has changed his position to allow him to work on the project full time.

Hopefully this will increase the number of supported devices and that vendors will start to see the benefit in supporting this user base.
