MSN Phishing…

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

I’ve recently been getting some spam from a couple contacts on my MSN list…doing a quick google search on the links revealed that this is probably MSN phishing…basically the contacts have had their account cracked… this allows an attacker to now send fake messages to the contacts associated with the account in hopes of tricking more people into entering their account information on a fake site…since they are automated using bots/scripts the contact may even appear to be offline when you receive the message.

The Slinky Antenna Hack

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

So one of the Days of Deals sales from Dell was a 32″ LCD TV for $549…and well I couldn’t say no and jumped on the flat screen wagon. A couple of days later it arrived at work and of course must be fully tested….. It comes with a built-in ATSC tuner allowing for receiving HD programming OTA.

This required us to get a bit creative in coming up with a suitable antenna to test the reception.

The following components were used:

  • A Paper Clip
  • A Slinky
  • A Trolley

Unfortunately we didn’t get any signal for CBC-HD, but we were able to tune into some Maury Povich where the topic of the day was “My mom is too fat to dress so sexy”…oh yeah…that’s right kids!

Anyways here are a few shots of the slinky antenna

L.A.S.E.R. Tag

GRL (Graffiti Research Lab) is a group dedicated to ‘outfitting graffiti writers, artists and protesters with open source tools for urban communication.’ They do some pretty cool stuff, one of my favorites is L.A.S.E.R. Tag…I’m thinking this would be a fun way to spend a Saturday night.
